Charlie's First Ski Trip

Nick and I took Charlie to Deer Mountain for the first time this weekend. She will eventually snow board, but we couldn't find a snow board small enough to rent for her. It took me long enough to just find a pair of skis that were small enough. Luckily the guys at Edge sports hooked us up with the smalled pair they had. Charlie was so excited.

We waited in line for the Puma lift. Charlie straddled my leg while I held her up and squatted the whole way up the hill.

We needed a little pep talk about half way down.

But she is a trooper and kept on going!

Wow! Look at that!

She did a great job going by herself most of the morning and trying to master the snow plow. She really did great. We mainly just wanted to get her comfortable on the equipment and have a great time. So when she got tired early afternoon, I just let her ski between my legs. Which meant a lot of squatting and bending over for me! Charlie loved going fast with me so I think we went down the hill like this about 3 times.
She fell down a few times and started to get upset. We told her that everyone falls down, and that you just try again. So this afternoon we were at Shooters eating lunch and they had the Olympics on. A gal fell as she tried to land a jump. Everyone in the restaurant yelled "oooooh!" And Charlie said, "That's ok...everyone falls sometimes...just try again!"

We had a great time and can't wait to get her up on the hill again soon .... we will go to Terry Peak this time though... all she wanted to do was go on the chair lift all day anyway!

If anyone can find her a small enough board...let us know!
